PWA World Cup Fuerteventura 2026 - Freestyle - Day 3
Lennart Neubauer wins the freestyle contest at Sotavento Beach
The best freestyle final ever — not just maybe, but definitely!
Strong winds and high waves created conditions today at Sotavento Beach that are rarely seen even here. Plenty of swell with 2-meter sets rolled onto the beach, all paired with side-offshore winds of seven to eight Beaufort.
Right in the thick of it: the world’s best freestylers right now. And today, once again, those were Lennart Neubauer, Yentel Caers, and Balz Müller.
Not to be forgotten is Jacopo Testa, who had worked his way up through several heats and faced Balz Müller once again in the battle for third place. But today, too, the Swiss rider came out on top and won the heat, thanks mainly to his high jump score.
In the battle for second place, however, he met his match in Yentel Caers. Despite Balz’s Double Air Kono, Yentel won with a score nearly five points higher, thanks in no small part to a Double Forward and a Shifty Shaka, which complemented the power moves he performed on the wave face.
What followed was a final that was pure promotion for the sport of windsurfing. Yentel challenged Lennart Neubauer, and both gave it their all. Massive freestyle tricks and jumps amid waves that were — for a freestyle contest — huge.
This spectacular showdown made freestyle history, as both the competitors and the judges agreed that this heat was the best ever skated in a freestyle contest.
In the end, Lennart won with an incredible score of 46.59 to 45.88, taking home the men's freestyle contest as well. You can watch the full heat in this Video.
The women's doubles competition continues tomorrow.
