Air Chachoo
Shifting the sail during a forward loop
A slow-motion video of an air chachoo by Yentel Caers. In the video, you can see when the hands are repositioned on the boom.
Even before the jump, the rear hand reaches back; then, at the same time as the take-off, the front hand reaches a little further back. The sail tilts leeward with the mast, and the rear hand passes under the clew to switch to the other side of the boom.
Even at the apex of the jump, Yentel had already grabbed the boom with both hands on the other side. As he rotates, his front hand reaches even further forward to keep the sail balanced during the landing.
