Add a spinloop to your backside wave ride

Backside wave ride with spinloop. In this video, Philip Köster shows how to jump a spinloop when riding in side-onshore conditions. The wave is really small, and the whitewater breaking against him is enough to send Philip into a rapid rotation.

In the slow-motion part of the video, you can see how the board, sail, and body are moved during the rotation. The sail remains open for a long time, while the board is already turning sharply out of the wind. Then, the strong pull on the rear hand, a compressed body position, and looking over the rear shoulder provide the correct rotational momentum.
