New wave sails from Goya
Three Banzai models, three fields of use, three construction methods, 93 models.
With its Banzai line, Goya offers a complex yet straightforward product range of sails for windsurfing in the waves. There are three sail lines derived from the original Banzai: the Banzai 12, the Banzai Surf 2, and the Banzai Max 2. Each of these three sails is available in three different construction types: Pro, X Pro, and Pro Carbon.
Each variant is available in a wide range of sizes. The Banzai 12 comes in 11 sizes, the Banzai Surf 2 in 10 sizes, and the Banzai Max 2 also in 10 sizes. With three models each available in three construction types, that brings the total to 93 individual models. And they come in different colors. That’s where we stopped counting.
The same changes were made to all three lines in this new edition. According to the manufacturer, the rotation of the sail body has been improved, the twist has been optimized without any loss of performance, the clew eye has been lowered slightly for a more compact riding experience, and the outline below the boom has been optimized. A new X-Ply material is used, which is said to be more durable and technically superior.
Of course, the main question is where the three models—the Banzai 12, the Banzai Surf 2, and the Banzai Max 2—are best suited for use.
- Banzai 12 (4 battens)
A well-balanced World Cup sail.
- Banzai Surf 2 (4 battens)
Focus on neutrality and wave riding
- Banzai Max 2 (5 battens)
Maximum range of use, controllability in challenging conditions.
Goya differentiates the constructions as follows:
- Pro: Standard construction.
- X Pro: Same as Pro. The window features an X-Ply construction.
- Pro Carbon: Carbon laminate with minimal stretch.
