Storm Gisela in Damp - Windsurfing at the Nieby Pier
Storm Gisela raged across the Baltic Sea on October 14, pushing large volumes of water toward the southwestern coasts. The fact that a storm doesn’t necessarily produce high wave crests when the tide is high was evident at many spots in Schleswig-Holstein. In Damp, too, the numerous windsurfers who had traveled there were met with less surf than expected. Instead of breaking directly at the Nieby pier as usual, the waves first broke off the shore reinforcement further south. Nevertheless, it was a first-class day for surfing in sunny autumn weather.
