Island Games Rügen

Launch on June 13, 2026 / New collaboration with the GFB

The Island Games Rügen will be an official stop on the German Freestyle Battles tour. The organizer explains the collaboration as follows:

“For all participants, the tried-and-true IGR format remains unchanged: No changes will be made to either the competition format (A and B divisions) or the judging (moves may be performed multiple times). At the same time, the rankings on Rügen take on additional significance, as all competitors automatically earn points toward the official GFB annual standings.

By adding the IGR to the GFB calendar, Rügen is strengthening its role as a venue for freestyle windsurfing and offering athletes the opportunity to compete in a high-quality competitive environment and secure important points in the race for the annual ranking.”

For those who want to participate or simply watch, the opportunity will be available starting June 13 in Suhrendorf at the UMMAII Surf Station. The skippers’ meeting is scheduled for Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the surf school.
