PWA Foil Slalom World Cup Japan 2026
World Championship titles for Matteo Iachino and Justine Lemeteyer.
That’s how quickly things can change. Fabian Wolf went into the decisive Foil World Cup in Japan as the world number two and had demonstrated just how good he is by securing a victory in the second elimination round. He then finished third in the third elimination round.
If there’d been more wind, there would have been more heats and therefore more results to discard. But the wind in Japan only allowed for three heats, meaning that Fabian Wolf’s false start in the first heat ruined all his chances of a podium finish.
In the end, Wolf finished ninth in Japan. This leaves him in fifth place in the world rankings at the end of the season.
Nico Prien finished the event in Japan in 17th place. He is not in the top 10 of the world rankings.
It was someone else who won in Yokosuka: Amado Vrieswijk clinched victory ahead of the Italians Bruno Martini and Matteo Iachino. With this third place in Japan and his victory on Sylt, the latter has secured the world championship title.
In the women’s classification, Justine Lemeteyer claimed victory after four eliminations. The Frenchwoman did not win any individual eliminations, but secured overall victory with three second-place finishes and one fourth-place finish. Whilst her rivals did secure individual wins, they were far less consistent in their placings.
Second place went to Lina Eržen from Slovenia. Tuva Oppedal and Helle Oppedal from Norway took third and fourth place respectively. As Japan was the only stop on the women’s tour, this also represents the current standings in the World Championship.
