A strange case of missing windsurf equipment in Hanstholm-Middles

Bunker cleared out - stored gear gone

Torben suffered a rather curious loss of windsurf gear at the spot Middles near Hanstholm/Denmark. He left on August 1, 2026 (photos from that day) by bicycle, and since he didn’t have a trailer, he stored his gear in the bunker on the beach (the opening is on the leeward side). He had planned to return 4–5 days later, but by then the windsurfing gear he’d left there had already disappeared.

Now, it’s possible that the gear was taken to safety as a precaution by someone who found it - due to the rather careless storage - and the owner is being sought, or it quietly and secretly made its way from the spot to some basement without anyone reporting it yet. Both scenarios have occurred in the past, so there’s at least a chance the gear will turn up again. Meanwhile, Torben has contacted the harbor about the webcam footage from the wind turbine, posted flyers locally, and notified the police.

If any of you were in the area during that time and may have seen the items or observed someone taking windsurfing gear out of the bunker and packing it up - please let us know or report it via Torben’s classified ad.

It was quite a bit of gear - two windsurf boards and a rig are missing: A blue 92-liter Style Pro board from Novenove (2016 model) with a seaweed fin and a repair on the rail, and a rather heavy 89-liter JP wave board (manufactured around 2018, an orange prototype from Leon Jamaer) with repairs on the tail and near the JP logo at the front (following a spin crash where the mast hit the board).

Also lost is an S2Maui Dragon sail, size 5.2 square meters (colors: green/blue/red), as well as a silver-colored mast bag with a 4-meter mast from Simmer Sails and a Gaastra 75% carbon top for a 370 length. Windsurf boom: Duotone Red Boom 140 with white harness lines.
