50-knot winds and some big surprises at the Windsurfing World Cup in Scotland. The results are in.

15 October 2026 – With winds of up to 50 knots, the weather gods delivered a real ‘Big Wednesday’ in Tiree. At the four-star Wave World Cup, the results in the main women’s and men’s fields were decided on Wednesday.

There were some massive surprises. Right in the first quarter-final heat, Philip Köster had to face Marino Gil Gherardi. Gherardi won with 16.26 points to 12.37. That meant Köster was out.

Miguel Chapuis

In the second quarter-final, Masters champion and PWA commentator Ben Proffitt beat Andy Chambers. In the third quarter-final, Miguel Chapuis had an easy win over James Cox. Marc Paré Rico secured his place in the semi-finals against Vincente Gonzales.

This finalised the semi-final line-up: Marino Gil versus Ben Proffitt and Miguel Chapuis versus Marc Paré. Whilst Marino Gil’s victory over Ben Proffitt came as no surprise, Miguel Chapuis’s narrow win against world number one Marc Paré caused quite a stir.

Philip Köster

This meant that Miguel Chapuis and Marino Gil Gherardi reached the final, where Miguel Chapuis proved that his victory over Marc Paré had not been a fluke. Marc Paré took third place, beating Ben Proffitt.

All in all, fourth place is a huge success for former professional Ben Proffitt. For Philip Köster, however, the event was a disaster. A win would have helped Philip close the gap on world number one Marc Paré. The plan didn’t work out, and hopes are now pinned on the Aloha Classic, which begins on 19 October in Maui.

Emma Miron

In the women’s competition, Emma Miron qualified for the final via the losers’ bracket. There, she faced her sister Frida Miron and the British pair Izzy Adcock and Cori McFarlane. In the end, it was Izzy Adcock who secured victory over Frida Miron by the narrowest of margins. Emma Miron finished in third place.
