WWT / PWA Windsurf World Cup Pozo 2026

The qualifiers for the main round were held at the Windsurf World Cup in Pozo. Daida Ruano Moreno easily made it into the main field.

July 8, 2026 – Update 3
It’s not the typical Pozo strong winds that are powering the wind-driven wave acrobats at the Wave World Cup in Gran Canaria. But it was enough on Tuesday to keep the competition moving forward.

Qualifying rounds were held in the pro division. There were some well-known names in the mix. Daida Ruano, who now works as a physical therapist, isn’t about to miss the World Cup right on her doorstep. She still has the drive to show everyone who’s boss. In the qualifiers, the Spaniard won with triple the points and confidently secured her spot in the women’s main field. Things will get interesting right from the first heat. Daida faces Lina Erpenstein.

At the same time, Milanka Linde and Helena Derya Lale from Germany advanced to the main field. Isabel van Noesel from the Netherlands also made it into the main field.

In the men’s division, Josep Pons of Spain, Takumi Moriya of Japan, Carlos Kiefer Quintana of Spain, and Lennart Neubauer—a Bremen native competing for Greece—advanced to the main field.

Pons, who was born in Menorca and lives in Gran Canaria, commented on the event: “I dug out the gear that had been in storage for a long time. Conditions like this are unusual for Pozo, and I had to rig up a big sail, but I managed to secure this spot.”

Now we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the typical Pozo wind will prevail after all.
