WWT / PWA Windsurf World Cup Pozo 2026
Victory for Philip Köster and Daida Ruano Moreno.
July 8, 2026 – Update 5
The Windsurf World Cup in Gran Canaria was decided in the professional division using a single-elimination format. No double-elimination, no single-elimination—it was all or nothing for the competitors.
The reason for this rushed format was the poor weather forecast. And so, the decision had to be made on Thursday.
Sarah-Quita Offinga: “Today was the day when we really had to give it our all to pull off this event. The forecast didn’t look particularly good, but then the wind picked up, there were some waves—and in the end, the conditions were the same for everyone.”
In the men’s competition, Philip Köster edged out Spaniards Marc Paré Rico and Miguel Chapuis at the very last minute.
Philip Köster: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have won this final here in Gran Canaria. It was a very tight final. The level of competition was really high. In the end, it really came down to that last jump. But yes, all in all, I’m really happy about it and absolutely thrilled to have won the event.”
Marc Paré: “It was a super close result against Philip, and I think he beat me at the very last minute or so, in the final seconds of the run, but yeah, I’m absolutely thrilled that I did so well, and hopefully I can take first place in the future.”
In the women’s division, 48-year-old Daida Ruano Moreno once again showed who’s boss. She defeated Sarah-Quita Offringa and Alexia Kiefer Quintana.
Daida: “I was just able to enjoy the conditions and have fun today, and everything went perfectly—I’m so happy to be in first place again.”
