With slightly better conditions, additional results were recorded on Wednesday in Gran Canaria.
Javier Escribano from Tarifa secured the victory in the U-18 age group with a total score of 14.66 points, with a backloop worth 5.58 points standing out in particular. Japan’s Ryoma Sugi took second place, while Denmark’s Bjorn Olesen claimed third.
Javier Escribano: “It was a bigger challenge this year because my competitors have significantly raised their level. The conditions weren’t ideal, but they were the same for everyone, and we all gave it our best.”
In the U-21 women’s division, Sol Degrieck is in the lead after two of three heats. There are four competitors in this category, so three heats of four riders each are being held. It is therefore not a traditional elimination format.
In the U-21 category, Gregory Stathopoulos secured the victory early Thursday, ahead of Carlos Kiefer Quintana, Takumi Moriya, and Anton Richter.
The professional heats then began on Thursday.
