WWT / PWA Windsurf World Cup Pozo 2026
Lars Gobisch wins the Masters title, defeating Ben Proffitt.
On Friday, the results of the Masters competition were announced in Pozo. The list of participants included well-known names such as John Skye, Ben Proffitt, Michael Viscovich, and Lars Gobisch from Germany.
The final was exciting. PWA commentator Proffitt was slightly better at the jumps, but Lars Gobisch was clearly superior in the wave riding and clinched the victory. In the battle for third place, Michael Friedl defeated Britain’s John Skye.
Lars Gobisch: “Yeah, competing in the final today was awesome. Last year, unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to the final because I had to go home. But being in the final this time was great. Everyone in my family was there for the final, and I kind of had to follow their lead—I already had a lot of people rooting for me. And it’s great that it worked out this way. But it’s not about the result—I just love it here.
I love the sport; I love competition. And I’m glad it turned out this way. Spending time here and seeing the kids and juniors improve—that’s awesome.”
In the U18 women’s division, Japan’s Natsuki Wakasa took the win ahead of Aline Diefenbach, competing for Spain, and Germany’s Frida Miron in third place.
Emma Miron competed in the U18 age group and finished in second place behind Belgium’s Sol Degrieck. “It’s really special to see how many girls are competing here in Pozo,” Emma commented. Helena Derya Lale, also from Germany, took third place.
It’s one of the key pillars of Bjørn Dunkerbeck’s World Cup: He manages to incorporate the youth division into all of his events, creating positive momentum that definitely helps advance the sport.
