WWT/PWA World Cup Teneriffa 2026 - Update 3

Final in strong winds: victory for Sarah-Quita Offringa and Marc Paré Rico. Lina Erpenstein and Philip Köster finished in second place.

5 August 2026 – As expected, Wednesday was the final day of the main draw. With the wind blowing strongly, the action got underway at 1 pm in El Médano. It didn’t take long for the surprises to emerge – at least in the men’s draw.

Women
The women’s field kicked off the day with the semi-finals. Sarah-Quita Offringa posted the best score here, relegating Lina Erpenstein to second place in this semi-final heat and thus giving a taste of what was to come. Alexia Kiefer, Quintana and Justyna Sniady made it through to the final via the other semi-final heat.

Sarah-Quita didn’t put a foot wrong in the final. She once again outperformed her rivals. However, her lead at the end wasn’t huge. Lina Erpenstein rode her way to second place with her usual composure, whilst Alexia Kiefer Quintana was delighted to take third place.

Men
Marcilio Browne fell just one point short of reaching the semi-finals in the first quarter-final. Behind Takuma Sugi and 42-year-old Josep Pons, he could only manage third place in this heat. His dream was over. It was an even closer call for Julian Salmonn. An almost unimaginably narrow margin of 0.8 points behind Arthur Arutkin cost him a place in the semi-finals.

In the semi-finals, Philip Köster (35 points) and Marc Paré Rico (35.11 points) both put in stellar performances in their respective heats. It was particularly clear with Marc Paré that he was determined to score very high marks very early on. The man was on a mission.

Marino Gil Gherardi and a certain Lennart Neubauer also made it through to the final. For Neubauer, who is (still) a full-time freestyler, reaching the final is a massive achievement.

Final: No sooner had the signal horn let out its melodious blast across the fields of Cabezo than Marc Paré got going. Shortly afterwards, he had 10 points to his name for a perfect double forward loop, whilst Philip Köster had to head for the shore to change his kit following a crash landing. Paré stepped up his game and Köster had to give it his all to catch up.

After three minutes, Philip Köster had scored just 0.5 points, whilst Paré already had 32.26 points to his name. But Köster wouldn’t be Köster if he didn’t claw his way back bit by bit. But it didn’t really come down to a photo finish. Towards the end of the run, Köster couldn’t find any ramps and had to settle for second place with 30.28 points, whilst Marc Paré surfed to victory with 36.63 points. The Spaniard was simply the better rider on the day. Third place went to Marino Gil Gherardi. Lennart Neubauer finished in fourth place.
