Update #3 - Fabian Wolf is the German champion in foil slalom

Before the awards ceremony took place on Sunday on the beach promenade in Westerland, the foil racers had to compete in more races. In addition to the eight races held over two days earlier in the week, six more were added over the weekend.

However, there were no changes at the top of the standings, so Fabian Wolf, with 12 wins in 14 races, comfortably secured the German championship title in the windsurfing discipline foiling (foil slalom) for Kiel.

Fabian Wolf: "I'm incredibly proud of my German Championship title. It was a long, tough week leading up to Sylt. We faced a wide variety of conditions, which didn't make things easy. But we made the best of it, and 14 races is already a strong result. For me, months of training and fine-tuning have really paid off. Now I'm looking forward to some recovery time."

The vice champion was Sem Stroosma of the Netherlands; third place on the podium went to Vincent Langer, and Meno Büchler finished fourth.

Three riders were locked in a three-way battle for fifth place. After a disastrous start to the regatta with three discards, Lars Poggemann gradually found his stride and ultimately made it into the top 5. In doing so, he pushed Jesse Richter down to sixth place, though Richter still finished as the top U21 rider. Alexander Neubert finished seventh.

Paul Regber finished in 9th place out of a total of 25 participants and was also the top U19 rider. Mika Henning won the U17 category with his 13th-place finish, and iQ Youth Foiler Lena Schmäh, the only female participant, placed 17th overall.

The 28 Fin-Slalom windsurfers were unable to compete; the wind on Sylt was not strong enough during the event period to hold races in this discipline.

Wing foilers competing in the Open German Championships in wave riding and wing foil slalom at the same location from Tuesday through Sunday are likely to have better luck. Starting Wednesday, southwesterly winds are expected to pick up, allowing for a freestyle contest as well.

For windsurfers, the action continues on the Baltic Sea at the end of August; the final 2026 event of the California Windsurf Cup will take place in Pelzerhaken from August 27 to 30.
